What can I do with my Sheltie?

The AKC sanctions a range of competitive events at which you can earn titles on your Sheltie. Each venue requires dedication and training for both dog and handler.

Conformation

Conformation Dog shows are a means of evaluating breeding stock. Each entry is judged against its breed standard.

Agility

Agility trials are competitions in which a handler guides a dog around a course containing jumps, tunnels, weave poles, & other obstacles.

Obedience

Basic obedience training teaches your dog good manners and acceptable behavior.

Rally

Rally is an event that combines elements of agility and obedience.

Tracking

Tracking, similar to search & rescue, in which a dog follows a scent track to locate an article left at the end of the trail.

Herding

One of the Sheltie’s responsibilities as a farm dog include working the farmer’s livestock.
