Rally

Rally is an event that combines elements of agility and obedience. The handler guides the dog through a course consisting of 15-20 numbered stations which require a variety of handling exercises. In addition to being an event where a dog can earn multiple titles, the AKC considers Rally to be a link between the Canine Good Citizen program and obedience or agility.

To find a rally trial in your area, you can contact a local ASSA member club or search the AKC’s events database. Many ASSA member clubs hold specialty rally trials, and the ASSA National also runs a Sheltie-only rally trial.

The AKC has an excellent guide to getting started in rally. The rally pages at the AKC website are a comprehensive source for rally information. You can also obtain a free copy of the AKC publication, Rally Regulations, by emailing the AKC.
